The Swindon Place Partnership is a collaboration between Swindon Borough Council, Central Swindon North Parish Council, South Swindon Parish Council, Voluntary Action Swindon, Wiltshire & Swindon Sports Partnership, and Sport England.

Sport England’s Place Partnerships program aims to address community needs by targeting resources and efforts in areas experiencing high levels of inequality. The program focuses on partnering with local organisations to understand specific community needs and leverage local assets to promote physical activity.

The aim of Test & Learn funding is for the Swindon Place Partnership to investigate and evidence a range of physical activities that could be replicated and scaled up to meet the Place Partnership objectives in the target areas in Swindon.


Test & Learn Core Aims

Test & Learn funding is available to physical activity leaders and organisations that can demonstrate a commitment to delivering a program of activities that lead to:

• Increased Levels of Physical Activity
• Decreased Levels of Physical Inactivity
• Improved Positive Experiences for Children & Young People
• Tackling Inequalities


Test & Learn Locations

Test & Learn projects must be delivered in one or more of the following Swindon areas:

Central Swindon North Parish
Gorse Hill, Moredon, Penhill, Pinehurst

South Swindon Parish
Broadgreen, , Park North, Park South, Railway Village, Walcot East


Delivery Window

These Test & Learn projects must be delivered between July 2025 and December 2025.


Application Deadline

The last date for submissions is Tuesday 2nd December 2025.

Registered charities
Businesses
Sole traders
Community groups.


Become a Provider

You don’t need to be an existing provider. We welcome applications from new startup partners.

If you’re interested in becoming a provider to deliver an activity funded under this scheme, please contact Voluntary Action Swindon  at carol@vas-swindon.org


What’s Available?

Fully funded awards of up to £5,000 are available.

A clear financial breakdown is required for our Committee to review. You may be invited to present your proposal to the committee on the day. 


Apply Online

Use our online form to submit your application. Before you do, make sure you can answer ‘yes’ to the following:

You can submit a detailed, fully costed proposal to deliver a Test & Learn Project.
Your project will be delivered in one or more of the specified Test & Learn locations in Swindon.
You can provide evidence of your Public Liability Insurance, an Activity Risk Assessment, and proof of relevant Qualifications to deliver the proposed activity.
Evidence of Enhanced DBS status if you will be working with children and/or vulnerable adults.
