Guidance for BMX pump track users

BMX riding is a high-risk activity, and accidents may happen without outside interference. Riders should be aware of this and take full responsibility for their own actions.

All riders must report to reception to sign in before riding on the BMX pump track, and sign out before they leave.

Under 11’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

The track is one-way only.

You should ride the whole track. Do not stop at any point until you have completed a circuit.

Choose the right bicycle:

While BMX bikes are commonly used on pump tracks, other types of bicycles such as mountain bikes and dirt jump bikes can also be suitable.

All bikes must be in good working order and have working brakes. Please note, bikes fitted with stunt pegs are not permitted on the BMX pump track.

Safety Gear:

Wearing appropriate safety gear is crucial when riding a BMX pump track. Riders should wear a helmet, gloves, and trainers or other rubber-soled shoes suitable for BMX riding.

Trousers and long-sleeved tops are strongly recommended. Riders may additionally wish to consider wearing knee and elbow pads. If wearing short sleeves and/or ¾ shorts, elbow and kneepads must be worn.

Start Slow:

If you’re new to pump tracks or unfamiliar with the specific layout, start with a slow pace to familiarize yourself with the track’s features and flow. Gradually increase your speed and confidence as you become more comfortable navigating the course.

Respect Other Riders:

Pump tracks are shared spaces used by riders of varying skill levels and ages. Be mindful of other users and yield to riders who are moving faster or have the right of way. Avoid sudden stops or unpredictable movements that could cause collisions or disrupt the flow of traffic on the track.

The following are prohibited on the BMX Pump Track at all times:

No Smoking or Vapes
No Chewing Gum
No Soft or Fizzy Drinks
No Dogs or Other Animals
No
Alcohol

By following these guidelines and practicing good etiquette, you can make the most of your time on a BMX pump track while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for yourself and others.

Have Fun and Experiment:

Above all, riding a BMX pump track should be an enjoyable experience. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different lines, techniques, and speeds to find what works best for you. Challenge yourself to improve your skills with each lap and celebrate your progress along the way.
